jIchegh! jIghItlhqa'.

After too many months of inactivity, this blog has been resurrected. I will be writing here (semi)regularly again, and have several ideas for content, including but not limited to the following:

Trek Radio News

I will post news and information related to my activities and involvement with Trek Radio, the Internet's first and premiere online radio station dedicated to the Star Trek community.

Warriors' Den Show Notes

I will use this blog as a place to post Show Notes for my Warriors' Den show on Trek Radio, including links to items and articles discussed on the show, as well as ideas for upcoming shows.

Gates of Sto'Vo'Kor

I am a proud member of the cast of the audio fiction podcast Gates of Sto'Vo'Kor based on the Star Trek universe within Star Trek Online. When we post new episodes, contests, and anything news worthy, I will post here with links and possibly behind-the-scenes information.

Klingon Proverbs
From time to time I will post a Klingon proverb with the description from the book The Klingon Way: A Warrior's Guide along with my interpretation of the proverb or what it means to me.

I have a few other ideas for expanding this blog, which will be revealed over time.  Hopefully this blog will continue to be useful and entertaining. Suggestions and comments are always welcomed and will be responded to as soon as possible.

Klingon Monopoly Contest on Warriors' Den

In November 2011, the makers of novelty versions of classic board games, USAopoly Games, released their second Star Trek themed Monopoly game, Monopoly: Star Trek Klingon, commonly referred to as Klingon Monopoly.

The game is redesigned to better fit the Klingon psychology, and the entire game is presented in both Federation Standard (English) and tlhIngan Hol (Klingon) featuring a generous amount of the Klingon writing system known as pIqaD. Klingon Monopoly even introduces some new words and phrases to the language, courtesy of Marc Okrand, with translations by the Klingon Language Institute.

Monopoly: Klingon
USAopoly initially released two versions of Monopoly: Star Trek Klingon -- the standard version dubbed Collector's Edition, and the extra special Limited Edition limited to 1701 numbered copies which include a miniature replica of the Chancellor's cane carried by Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

Darqun and the Collective fleet have graciously donated a Limited Edition copy of Klingon Monopoly to the Warriors' Den to give away in a fund-raiser contest as part of Trek Radio's week-long celebration of the Free-to-Play launch of Star Trek Online.

The Contest

Everyone who donated to Trek Radio from December 1, 2011 to the end of the day January 17, 2012 (the day STO launches as F2P) will be eligible for the contest. On Tuesday, January 17, I will announce a short phrase in Federation Standard (English) which must be translated into tlhIngan Hol, and at the end of the day, everyone eligible will receive an email from me with that short phrase.

Those who respond to that email with the correct translation before Wednesday, January 18 at 11:59pm PST, will have their name etched onto a piece of wood, and that piece of wood will be dropped into a barrel of 'Iw HIq (bloodwine) and I will dip my HIvje' (mug) into the barrel and continue to drink until I find one of the pieces of wood in my mug. The person whose name is on that piece of wood will be declared the winner of Monopoly: Star Trek Klingon Limited Edition #1576. The winner will be announced live on-air during my show, the Warriors' Den, on Thursday, the 19th of January.

Tune in to Trek Radio throughout the week from Tuesday January 17 to Saturday January 21 for more information about additional contests celebrating the Free-to-Play launch of Star Trek Online, and join the festivities in our IRC chat room and our in-game chat channel (in STO, type /channel_join trekradio.net).

UPDATE:

Due to a number of circumstances (including no correct responses) the Warriors' Den contest for a Limited Edition (numbered) copy of Monopoly: Star Trek Klingon has been extended until the end of January.

Everyone who donates to Trek Radio in the month of January will be qualified to receive an email from me (deyvid at trekradio.net) with a new language challenge question. The email will contain a phrase in tlhIngan Hol (Klingon) and those who receive the email must reply to the email with the proper Federation Standard (English) translation. Responses that include the correct translation will be entered into the final pool of names, and the winner will be randomly selected from that pool of names. The winner will be announced on February 2nd, 2012 during my show, The Warriors' Den. I will also notify the winner via email and request a mailing address to send the Klingon Monopoly.

Everyone who previously donated to Trek Radio in December and received the first contest email will be automatically included in this extended contest.

If no email responses are submitted, or every response is incorrect, the contest will be extended again.
